What is Modern Boho Style?

First, let’s talk. What is boho style?

A boho chic bathroom has a laidback, bohemian vibe that is fun and easy to create.

Boho style rooms incorporates an eclectic mix of patterns, textures, and natural elements.

The relaxed, global-inspired aesthetic bends traditional design rules to create a layered, personalized look.

Plants. It doesn’t matter if they are faux and real. Plants naturally love the moist atmosphere provided by a bathroom. If your bathroom doesn’t get enough natural light, choose plants that do well in the shade.

Or feel free to choose faux plants. These days faux plants are getting more and more lifelike. And if you’re like me, and you just can’t stay consistent in your watering, I hereby give you permission. Faux is fine. No one is judging ๐Ÿ™‚

And plants really are key to the boho design look. Walmart has lots of great options for life-like faux plants at an affordable price point.

Key Boho Bathroom Design Elements

Boho Bathroom Decor Idea #3:

Decorate with boho style:

  • Use natural materials like hemp, sisal, wood, rattan, and bamboo.
  • I chose a sisal rug with a fun, decorative floral pattern. It added style and a bit of whimsy to the center of the bathroom.
  • I added several bamboo accessories: the bathtub tray caddy below and several coordinating bamboo trays throughout the room.

  • An everyday bath becomes a spa-like retreat with the right accessories.
  • An expandable boho-inspired bamboo bathtub caddy tray holds all the essentials beautifully.
  • I’ve got everything I need right on hand: hand towel, book, candle, soaps, beverage, even a standing slot for my phone.
  • My caddy holds my favorite drink (sparkling water plus Ningxia Nitro nutritional supplement…gives me energy and tastes great.)

Boho Bathroom Decor Idea #4:

  •  Use floor poofs and floor pillows to create a boho bathroom with global-inspiration.

I love how the neutral elements blend easily and add warmth to the cool, hard marble surfaces.

Globally inspired floor pillows and poofs are fun and easy to move around.

They are a versatile addition to any space, especially a small space like a bathroom.

You can use them for seating or as a table. Add extra stability by putting a tray on top.

Poofs add style and practicality to just about any room. No wonder they’ve become so popular.

How to Create Your Boho Bathroom

Boho Bathroom Idea #5:

  • Choose your decor theme. Start broad and then narrow it down with specific choices.

I began by choosing boho style for my theme.

Then I started researching and shopping at

I slowly narrowed down my theme to include a neutral palette.

The theme for my bathroom update became “natural, neutral bohemian style”.

The best part was there was no remodeling. No big costs. Just an easy, fresh update that made both me and my hubby happy.

Sometimes it is about compromise ๐Ÿ™‚

Search Boho Bathroom on

Once I decided on a theme, it was super easy to shop chic boho decor items on

I simply typed in boho bathroom and voila!

So many cute options under boho style, boho bathroom style, and boho chic decor. Just search and shop.

Note:  Don’t forget to search outside of the bathroom category to find unique elements to bring into your bathroom. This is how I found my poof and my rug. Of course, I’ve linked all the items, so you can shop even more easily.

However, when you’re shopping on your own it’s a good trick to remember.

So Many Reasons I Love Shopping Walmart

My items arrived even before they were promised.

Before I knew it, I had a fresh, updated look in my bathroom that they whole family was excited about.

Now we may or may not be fighting over who gets to use the tub! Just saying. My 17-year-old said, “Mom, I love this round thing! Can I sit on it?” Too fun! Who says decor is wasted on my family? I guess I can’t say that anymore.

When our families love what we create it truly is the ultimate compliment. Don’t you agree?

Transition Your Decor Without Spending A lot

Clothing styles don’t stay the same.

And home decor styles don’t either.

We are always evolving, and that’s okay. If you want to add boho chic to your home, it doesn’t mean you need to buy all new furniture. No way! And you don’t need to remodel in order to breathe fresh life into your home spaces.

Do what Jodie and I love to do:

Update your spaces by changing out accessories, rugs, accent pieces, and small home decor items.

This keeps your home looking and feeling fresh without breaking your budget. When we shop at we always know we are getting great quality at a great price.

We love knowing the value we get when we shop at Walmart.
