What You Need to Make Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 1 package Tollhouse refrigerated cookie dough
- 1 cookie scoop
- 1 set of ramekins, your choice of size
- Vanilla ice cream
Of course, you have the option of making your own homemade dough and using it exactly the same way that we used premade dough from the store. In this case, you would need:
- All purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Butter (at room temperature is best)
- Vanilla extract
- White sugar
- Brown sugar
- Chocolate chips
Find a recipe you love (this one looks great) that lists ingredient amounts and make your dough in a stand mixer or large bowl.
Are you wondering, would this recipe work with different kinds of cookie dough? Of course! You could also make air fryer sugar cookies, air fryer shortbread cookies, or peanut butter cookies too. We love the classic, comfy look and taste of chocolate chip cookies, especially with ice cream in a bowl. But you can use your imagination.
How to Make Fresh Chocolate Chip Cookies in the Air Fryer
Step One
Preheat your air fryer to 320 degrees for a couple of minutes.
Do You Need Parchment Paper for Cookies in the Air Fryer?
The answer to that is no. Your ramekins are all you need. Scoop refrigerator Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie dough (or the cookie dough you made from scratch) into its own personal small bowl and don’t worry about needing anything else.
Step Two
Place the ramekins into your air fryer. How many you can make at a time will depend both on the size of ramekin you choose and the size of your air fryer basket(s).
If you only have a smaller basket, we recommend making a small batch recipe with smaller ramekins.
If there are only a few of you, go ahead and make a full batch and bake more dough in larger ramekins, just a few at a time. I personally really like this ramekin for this purpose.
How Long Should I Put Tollhouse Cookies in the Air Fryer?
Baking time varies based on a few factors. Your air fryer is one of them. Different power levels, sizes, and shapes will affect baking time. The size of your cookies is a factor too. Between 5 and 10 minutes is a safe estimate.
After five minutes, our cookies were gooey inside but brown on top. We put tinfoil over the top to keep them from getting more brown while they cooked a bit more on the inside, since we didn’t want them quite that gooey. All this to say, check your cookies after four minutes and evaluate.
Can I Put Aluminum Foil in the Air Fryer?
Yes! When the tops are golden brown, cover them with tin foil and cook for another few minutes until a toothpick poked in the center comes out clean. I know this isn’t an exact science, but this method really does work.
We baked ours for 8 minutes and they were perfect, if that helps you.
At What Temperature is Cookie Dough Safe to Eat?
I know that some people worry about eating raw cookie dough. If this describes you, you can always buy the edible kind (no raw eggs) so you don’t need to be anxious about it. If you want to be absolutely certain your cookies are safe to eat, make sure they are cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F. I like mine slightly gooey, and nothing bad has happened to me yet.
Optional Step Three
One you’re confident the cookies in the air fryer are finished, there is just one last thing you need to do: serve them warm with vanilla ice cream for the absolute best results.

Nutrition
There’s nothing like warm homemade cookies and ice cream in the same bite for an absolutely delicious treat for your friends and family. This is our new favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe, and we think it will be yours too.
A note from Jodie: This is the first time I’ve ever bought refrigerated Tollhouse cookie dough. I could NOT tell the difference between this and the chocolate chip cookie dough recipe I usually make from scratch. I think that’s the best part of this recipe: getting great results with zero hard work. And, comment for the link to my air fryer! I love cooking with it and it worked perfectly for this baking experiment too.
Happy air fryer baking, everyone!
