Let’s be truthful, lighting can be tough! It’s not easy for decorators either! Why? Several reasons. Firstly, there’s so much to sift through….EEK! Sometimes it can feel like you are looking for a needle in a large haystack! Secondly, choosing lighting requires visualization…an ability to see and imagine the finished look before it exists. It’s not easy. That’s why Jodie and I created this lighting guide! We have done the “sifting” so you don’t have to! In this post we share our own lighting journeys and some absolute favorites we wish we had a space for.
Neither Jodie nor I built our homes. However, we did replace most, if not all of the lighting in both of our homes. Each and every lighting choice was a process and a labor of love. We did our homework comparing prices, quality and most importantly carefully selecting the right style we wanted for each space. The end result is always worth the effort. So come along with us on our lighting tour, take notes. We hope you find the perfect light to brighten your rooms and come away inspired for future projects.

Thank you for this blog post. I look forward to researching these great possibilities. But I have a question……does the fixture/chandelier have to be centered over the table. The way my kitchen is laid out with a fireplace sitting area our present light fixture is centered for the entire area, not the kitchen table. Any suggestions?
Dear Nancy, Thank you for visiting our blog. Well, without seeing the space I can’t answer definitively. However, with a table nearby it usually would look best centered above the table. It is not always the case, and I can imagine it being centered in between the table and the fireplace possibly…especially if there is something under the chandelier like a rug or small seating area. Maybe there’s not enough room for a seating area…Again, hard to tell you without seeing. The other option is to extend the chain and drape the chandelier over to where you want it…like Jodie did in her living room. Hope either of those suggestions help. Blessings, Julie & Jodie
We have the same fixture in our kitchen!! Love that beaded one at the end. I want more than anything to put the crystal one from Pottery Barn in our laundry room!!! Great lighting choices ladies!
Aw, thank you Sweet Marci! We love your generous support. You always make us feel loved and appreciated. We hope we do the same for you because you are and we do, haha! Blessings to you, Julie & Jodie
Such gorgeous lights! Thank you for rounding them up for us. I’ve got a similar light in my son’s room. LOVE it.

I really liked the form of the globe structured island light. My wife and I are redoing the lighting in our kitchen and wanted to add new lamps that really make the place seem more cozy. Thank you for all of these fantastic and trendy lamp ideas!
Thank you Jack. We’re so glad you found these resources helpful. That was our hope in putting together this post. Cheers to a great end result. We hope you will return to our blog often for more inspiration. XO ~ Julie & Jodie
Considering how many lighting options most homes have to choose from there really is a lot that you have to take into consideration. The article makes a particularly good point about choosing the lighting based on rooms. After all, the lighting you’d choose for a kitchen would be very different then the kind you would want for a bedroom.
Thanks for stopping by. Lighting is so cruicial to a home. As you know it can make or break a room. Thanks for your input. Take care, Julie
